AMED – Memory of a city
“Cities are like people” once said the Italian director Federico Fellini. They have a soul, many faces and above all a memory. The city of AMED (Diyarbakır), located in the south-east of Turkey on the river Tigris, is one of the oldest cities of the Middle East, but also the whole world, where social life has existed continuously for five thousand years. In its long and turbulent history, it was a place of refuge and hope, violence and resistance.
